Teddy Riley vs. Babyface: The Grown Folks Battle We’ve Been Waiting For

www.blackdoctor.org

As the third attempt to get two legendary writers/producers/singers, Teddy Riley and Kenny “Babyface” Edmonds, together, it finally happened on Monday, April 20th, was epic but it wasn’t without issues either.

The friendly battle was originally scheduled weeks ago, but it was delayed initially due to Babyface having tested positive for the COVID-19 virus. So, literally fresh off of Babyface’s birthday and not only him, but his family recovering from the virus, the bout got rescheduled again. But this time, while both parties were ready, it seemed as though Teddy succumbed to the plague of “doing too much.” While Babyface was sitting in a room with a phone and speaker, Riley came ‘suited and booted’ with a band, a hype man was literally doing the most, which seemed to create issues for his sound. The internet went crazy with memes and parodies all over social media. All in all, Babyface graciously rescheduled the event again to be fair and give the people what they “came” for.

So the night has come, and nearly 400,000 people were once again on Instagram live on a Monday night ready to hear the two legends play their hits. While there were more technical difficulties throughout the night, the battle itself did take place.

Both played hit after hit after hit which led many comments saying, “I didn’t know he made that!” So, just in case you missed it, here are some of their hits:
