Millard House, director for Clarksville-Montgomery County School System, has been selected as the Director-At-Large for the Tennessee Organization of School Superintendents (TOSS). House will also serve as one of 12 Fellows to participate in the Coherence Lab Fellowship.
TOSS leads advocacy efforts for public education in the state of Tennessee. The organization is comprised of district leaders who are committed to lifelong learning, best practice sharing, and continuous improvement.
“These opportunities are reflective of the student-focused and innovative work happening in CMCSS by administrators and teachers,” said House. “I am honored by the trust of Tennessee’s schools directors and grateful for the opportunity our Education Commissioner is providing to enhance our strategic approach for student success.”
Tennessee Education Commissioner Dr. Penny Schwinn has also selected House to participate in the Coherce Lab Fellowship. Tennessee is one of four states selected as part of the second group to participate in this 18-month process, which is designed to remove barriers to collaboration, test and pilot new structures for educator engagement in decision making and develop strategies to engage stakeholders.
“Clarksville-Montgomery County has led the way when it comes to the establishment of a Grow-Your-Own model designed to enhance teacher recruitment, retention and leadership,” said Commissioner Schwinn. “Director House’s innovative approach is something the state is looking closely at, which is why I’m thrilled he’s agreed to contribute to this conversation moving forward.”
