This year, two Booker T. Washinton H.S. Class of 83 alumni, Jenice Jones (Ph.D. candidate), President of Just The Beginning Inc., who founded Just The Beginning 10 years ago & Keynote Speaker, Dr. Audrey Thompson, Oral Roberts University Associate Professor will be raising awareness of the impact mental illness has on justice involved women.
Just The Beginning is a Christ centered organization that empowers justice involved women towards self-sufficiency, esteem and wholeness.
Just The Beginning has three program components – Just The Beginning Empowerment Program (intensive individual and group sessions designed for women in diversion, transition or on parole), Community Outreach (which includes county jail and extends into prisons) and Transition of Choice follow-up treatment plan (successful participants are able to shift into follow-up care).
