Saxophonist and composer Tia Fuller, a strong and versatile post-bop musician who recently released her fifth album as a leader, will front a quartet at Duet Jazz. Per JazzTimes, she’s a player who “wields a silvery tone and is prone to serpentine improvisations that zig, zag, jab, and sour with brisk fluidity.”

Widely celebrated and impressively talented, Fuller is a straight-ahead-jazz dynamo with chops galore and genuine stage presence. She also teaches at the prestigious Berklee College of Music, and has played over the years with everyone from Beyoncé and Nancy Wilson to Ralph Peterson, Esperanza Spalding,Jon Faddis, and Sean Jones. Fuller’s latest album, DIAMOND CUT, employs the process of diamonds forming under extreme pressure and heat as a metaphor for the time and effort she’s devoted to honing her craft and artistry.
Produced by GRAMMY-winner (and ace drummer) Terri Lyne Carrington, DIAMOND CUT features solid compositions and virtuoso playing throughout, and Fuller will play music from this release at her Duet show.
