Soul Fest Honoring The Late Wayman Tisdale Set To Rock Guthrie Green

Guthrie Green is hosting the second annual Tulsa Soul Festival, a FREE music festival honoring the late Wayman Tisdale, professional basketball player and jazz musician.

Tulsa’s Soul Festival is a music festival featuring a weekend of live soul and R&B funk, art, entertainment and soul-centric southern cuisine. In addition to providing soulful entertainment, the weekend will honor and pay tribute to the legacy of Wayman Tisdale by highlighting his foundation’s mission and impact in the Tulsa community.

Feature artist are R/B legends Ready For The Word on Friday and, funk legends of the 1980’s Lakeside and sultry soul singer Music Soulchild on Saturday evening.

Lakeside will bring a warm sound to the Green with remembrance of Tisdale’s high school days at Booker T Washington. His Booker T. basketball teams loved listening to Lakesides “Fantastic Voyage” and “Your Love is On the One” by the funk legends before taking the basketball court during their games in the early 80’s.

Southern-style food vendors will offer tasty treats for attendees, including Cajunboil Catering, Give Back Shack, Jubilee, Reba Dales and Sweet Lisa, among others.

Be sure and arrive early both nights, it will be a weekend to remember with Tulsa Raymond S. McLain alumni in town also for its yearly football homecoming.
