The Historic Vernon A.M.E. Church will celebrate Women’s Day Weekend on June 22-24, 2018.
The theme is “So Whatever You Eat or Drink, or Whatever You Do, Do It All for the Glory of God.” 1 Corinthians 10:31v
Friday, June 22nd @ 7 p.m., a clergy and laity fashion show will be held, titled “Celebrating the God in Me.” Donation: adults $10, students $5
Saturday, June 23rd at 11:00 a.m., is the Women’s Missionary Unit Annual Brunch. The speaker is the Honorable Judge Sharon Holmes, Tulsa County District Judge. Donation: adults $15, students $7.50 Proceeds from the brunch will provide community outreach in the Tulsa area.
On Sunday, June 24th @ 3:00 p.m., Ms. Carlisha Williams, Director of Tulsa Legacy Charter School, will be the featured speaker. The theme is “The Many Hats We Wear.” All events are open to the public.

JUDGE SHARON K. HOLMES
Judge Sharon K. Holmes is a 1977 graduate of Booker T. Washington High School. She received her Bachelor’s degree from Loyola University in New Orleans, Louisiana and her Juris Doctorate (Law) degree from Oklahoma City University School of Law.
Before being elected to the bench, Judge Holmes was a criminal defense attorney and prior to that she was an Assistant District Attorney for Tulsa County. In 2015, she took the bench after an election, which made her Tulsa County’s first Black female District Court Judge.
Judge Holmes currently presides over a criminal docket and is Chief of the Criminal Division.
