High School District Showdowns & Playoff Berths at Stake on GameTime (Oct. 26-28)

This week’s GameTime schedule is make or break for teams fighting for district titles and playoff berths.  There a total of 7 games this week including a playoff game in Nebraska, district showdowns in Arizona and Oklahoma and a Saturday game in Virginia Beach, VA.

The national game on Thursday night is a big Louisiana 5A Rivalry – Walker vs. Live Oak.  The other Thursday game is a Oklahoma 6A-I District 1 regional match-up – Broken Arrow vs. Edmond Memorial.

Live Oak Jamboree

Regional games on Friday, October 27th include a Class A Nebraska playoff match-up beween Millard North vs. Omaha Burke, two top-10 Arizona teams – #6 Hamilton vs. #2 Chandler, an Oklahoma 6A-II showdown – Booker T. Washington vs. Bixby and a streaming only game in Oklahoma – Ada vs. Blanchard.  Saturday’s game is a non-conference match-up between Virgina Beach’s Bishop Sullivan vs. Connecticut’s Cheshire Academy.

The Thursday national game is available to all Cox subscribers. Friday’s regional games will be televised in specific Cox markets, and all games stream live on yurview.com. Here’s an overview of this week’s games:

Walker vs. Live Oak (Louisiana)

When:  Thursday, October 26 – 6:30pm CT (times/channels vary across regions – check local listings)

Where to watch: Airs across all Cox/YurView markets and streaming live at yurview.com.

Overview: Match-up between two Louisiana 5A District-4 teams.  The Wildcats of Walker come into the game with a 5-3 record while the Eagles of Live Oak are 3-5.  A win for either team keeps them in playoff contention.  Walker is led by freshman QB Christian Ard and RB Triston Taylor with 583 rushing yards on the season.  Live Oak is led by junior QB Sal Palermo and a potent rushing attack led by FB Kee Hawkins with 509 yards, and senior RB Khalil Smith.

Broken Arrow vs. Edmond Memorial (Oklahoma)

When:  Thursday, October 26 – 7:00pm CT

Overview:  Oklahoma 6A District 1 match-up between the 4-4 Broken arrow Tigers and 1-7 Edmond Memorial Bulldogs.  Broken Arrow is currently second place in the district with a 4-1 record, one game behind Jenks.  Broken Arrow has outscored opponents 152-35 in the last 3 games.  Edmond Memorial is hoping to play spoiler and dash any hopes of a Broken Arrow district title.

Hamilton vs. Chandler (Arizona)

When:  Friday, October 27 – 7:00pm MST/9:00pm CT

Where to watch:  YurView AZ Ch. 4/1004 HD (Phoenix) and Ch. 7/1007 HD (Tucson) and streaming live at yurview.com.

Overview: Arizona 6A Premier showdown between the #6 ranked Hamilton Huskies (7-2, 3-0) vs. #2 ranked Chandler Wolves (7-2, 2-1).  The leaders for Hamilton are QB Tyler Shough and RB Jawhar Jordan.  Shough, who commited to Oregon has over 2100 yards passing and a phenomenal 22-2 TD vs. INT ratio.  Jordan has rushed for nearly 1200 yards, averaging over 10 yards per carry with 18 TDs.  For Chandler, QB Jacob Conover (offers from Alabama, Arizona, and BYU) and WR Gunner Romney (BYU Commit) are back and healthy.  Since their return, the Wolves have won 4 straight and are scoring over 50 points per game.

Booker T. Washington vs. Bixby (Oklahoma)

When:  Friday, October 27 – 7:00pm CT

Overview: Oklahoma 6A Division II, District 2 matchup between the defending state champion Bixby Spartans (5-3) vs. Booker T. Washington Hornets (7-1).  Both teams come into the game with spotless 4-0 records in district play, and the winner will be crowned District 2 champion.  Bixby is led by senior QB Staton King with over 1700 yards passing/16 TD’s.  Washington senior QB Phillip Wheatley leads the Hornets with over 1400 yards passing/13 TD’s.

Millard North vs. Omaha Burke (Nebraska)

When:  Friday, October 27 – 7:00pm CT

Overview: High school football playoffs are back in the Cornhusker State! Class-A match-up between the #7 seed Burke Bulldogs (7-2) vs. the #10 seed Millard North Mustangs (5-4).  Millard North loves to run the ball.  In the past 3 games, the Mustangs have rushed for 346, 411, and 359 yards.  QB Cade Elwood and RB Noah Mick have racked up most of the rushing yards.  For Burke, look for James Burks to carry the load on the ground.  The junior has rushed for 1,270 yards with 22 TD’s.  Burke QB Tyler Chadwick is among the top passers in the class, with 1,728 passing yards and an efficient 64.8% completion rate.

Ada vs. Blanchard (Oklahoma)

When:  Friday, October 27– 7:00pm CT

Overview:  Oklahoma 4A match-up between two of the top teams in District 2.  The Blanchard Lions are undefeated at 8-0 while the 5-3 Ada Cougars are only one game back at 4-1 in district play.

Cheshire Academy (CT) vs. Bishop Sullivan (VA)

When:  Saturday, October 28 – 12pm ET

Overview:  Non-conference match-up between the Cheshire Academy Cats from Connecticut vs. Bishop Sullivan Crusaders from Virginia Beach.  Bishop Sullivan is 4-4 on the season but ranked #5 in the state of Virginia.  Stand out player and Ohio State commit LB Teradja Mitchell leads the defense.  Cheshire Academy is undefeated at 6-0 and is the #3 ranked team in Connecticut.
